Who we are
Opera Nova is based and performs in the Bromley area of London and aim to produce a fully staged and costumed grand opera at least once every two years. We use professional or semi-professional principals and orchestra together with an amateur chorus drawn from our own membership. Between productions we produce, or participate in, concerts as fund-raising for our own staged productions or to support local enterprises and charities.

History
The company was formed in 1990 by Carole Fisher-Grant and Geoffrey Boyd. Carole grew up in Bromley, and studied singing with Frank Felton. Carole's professional work has included chorus in Aïda and Carmen at Earl's Court with the Ambrosian Opera Chorus, Extra Chorus at the Royal Opera House, the title role of Tosca for Opera Options and Leonora (Forza del Destino) for Court Opera at Holland Park, and much solo concert work at home and abroad, including an opera concert tour in 1993. Since its inception the company has produced nine fully staged operas and numerous concerts.

Membership
The annual subscription is £10. Members wishing to perform must also pass a simple audition, but we are also always glad to welcome non-performing members to help behind the scenes with costumes, scenery, stage management, lighting, administration, etc. If you wish to join, or just find out more about the company, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Rehearsals
Chorus and full company rehearsals are on Friday evenings from 7.30 - to 10.00pm at Wickham Theatre Centre, Corkscrew Hill, West Wickham, and members have access to the Theatre Centre's bar. Wickham Theatre Centre is the home of Theatre 62, the local award-winning drama group, who present five plays a year at the Theatre Centre. During the two weeks prior to, and the week of, their production the company's rehearsals are transferred to alternative local venues.
